Purple Rhino Studios ("we," "us," or "our") built Ultra Widgets (the "App") to work almost entirely on your iPhone. Your widgets, the words and photos you put in them, and your habit records are yours — we don't have a server to send them to, and we never see them. This policy explains, plainly, what that means in practice.
The short version
- The App does not have a server, a database, or a backend of any kind.
- We do not collect, receive, or have access to your widgets, your content, or any other personal data, at any time.
- There are no user accounts, no sign-ins, and no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- The App asks for a permission (like Calendar or Health) only when you add a widget that needs it, and only uses that data to show it on that widget.
- If you turn on iCloud sync, your widgets are stored in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.
What you create
Widget titles, custom text, dates, countdowns, notes, habit records (the days you've marked a habit done), dates you've marked on a Year at a Glance widget, photos you choose, and any web addresses you enter for a Custom API or Chart widget are stored locally on your device, in storage shared only between the App and its own widgets.
Information the App accesses
A few widget types ask for permission the first time you use them, through Apple's standard permission prompts. Each one is optional, and the App reads that data only to show it on the widget you set up:
- Calendar — your upcoming events, for Calendar widgets.
- Reminders — reminders from the list you choose, for Reminders widgets.
- Health — your step count only, for Steps widgets. The App only ever reads step count; it never writes anything to Health.
- Location — your approximate current location while using the App, for Weather widgets and travel-time widgets. It's sent to Apple's WeatherKit and MapKit services to fetch the forecast or travel time, and the App does not keep a location history. The App doesn't offer these location-based widgets on the South Korea or China mainland App Store, and never asks for your location there.
- Apple Music — what's currently playing, for Music widgets, so the widget can show the song and its play, pause, and skip buttons can control playback.
- Photos — only the specific photos you pick through Apple's photo picker. The App never gets access to your photo library as a whole; it keeps a small copy of each photo you choose, on your device.
The App does not access your contacts, microphone, camera, or any other personal data.
